Visitors to Stowe Farm can now sift through the minning rough for gemstones, arrowheads or fossils at the mining sluice. We installed this 5 year ago and has shown to be one of the most exciting events children can experience. We have a great amount of familys who come year after year to add to their gemstone collection.We also find the arrowhead rough bags are just as interesting. Many young boy come to visit us with an arrowhead necklace they have made with what they have found in their bag. Purchasing the fossil bag willl keep one very busy, comes with its own card to show what fossils you have found. This has been a great sucess for science projects, or show and tells. We have had many school groups come to our farm just for the minning, this is a great event for ages 5 and up. The attraction simulated the experience of panning for gold during the Gold Rush of the 1840's.

The sluice is a flume-like structure that has water running through it. Visitors can purchase a bag of rough, place it in a sifter in the water and see what emerges. We carry Gemstones, Arrowheads and Fossil minning rough. All bags are guaranted to have plenty of treasures to make your child smile. Try one or try them all gemstones and the arrowheads cost $5.00 per bag while the fossils are a bit more since its a family size bag. The mining offers a chance to educate children, they can learn about gemstones, and the fossils make a natural segue to learning more about dinosaurs, to hold something in your hand that dates back 200 million years is pretty neat.
